    • Introduction

In Jiyugaoka, our main mission is to teach our members high-quality BJJ and to help them realize their individual goals.

But the motto of Carpe Diem is “more than BJJ”, our mission is also to add value to people’s lives, to promote self-betterment and well-being.

We believe that starting BJJ is also starting a long-lasting project, in which everyone will be able to structure their lives around a positive activity.

Getting a BJJ Black Belt often takes more than 10 years. This time spent drilling, sparring, and studying Jiu-Jitsu will be dedicated to the research of excellence and the pursuit of becoming a better version of ourselves. It will involve creating strong bonds with the dojo community, as it is a sport in which we improve together, and in which the concept of interdependence is prevalent. But it will also require students to get to know themselves, surpass their limits and fears, deeply understand what are one's strengths and weaknesses, and examine themselves thoroughly in a quest for introspection.

    • Class System

We offer classes for every level and age group

      Basics Class

In the Basics Class, we will study the foundamentals of BJJ.

The class is divided in 3 phases: warm-ups, techniques and position sparring.

The goal of BJJ being to control a resisting opponent using the maximum of technique and the minimum of power, we think it is first necessary to control our own bodies before trying to subdue someone else.

      All Belts Class

For more experienced practitioners, the All Belts class will allow our members to refine their game, gain a deeper understanding of Jiu-Jitsu, and practice live sparring at a higher intensity

The techniques demonstrated will be more complex and the sparring rounds will be longer.

      Nogi Class

In Nogi, you will need to utilize your wrestling, maintain tighter control over your opponent, and also gain a better understanding of finishing mechanics.

By training Nogi you will improve your guard retention and your scrambling ability, and you will see an increase in the versatility of your Jiu-Jitsu. We offer Nogi classes every weekdays.

      Kids BJJ

In the Kids Class, Children from 4 to 12 years old will learn Jiu-Jitsu, can compete or, just evolve in a fun, international environment.

      Family BJJ

      We structure our program around:

      Self Defence / Anti-Bullying

BJJ is one of the most efficient combat-style systems. Children will learn how to deal with physical aggression, control their partners and subdue them without hurting them.

      Discipline

BJJ is a martial art, and we cary rules and values that are meant to be respected inside and outside the dojo.

We are promoting sincerity, respect, kindness, benevolence, solidarity, tolerance among other values

      Fun

Through games and activities, kids will expend energy and laugh! It’s important to us to maintain the children’s interest and keep them engaged as they will learn better if they have fun on the way.

      Fitness

Children will also learn how to control their bodies and how to move well. They will become stronger, agile, flexible, and alert.

      Confidence

Learning how to deal with an aggressive opponent but also their fears and worries will help your children to become more confident and resilient.

      Interculturality

Our community consists of dozens of different nationalities, we believe that the interactions of diverse cultures through dialogue and mutual respect generate shared cultural expression.
